Natarajan Chandrasekaran was born in Tamil Nadu in 1963, trained as a computer scientist and built his career at Tata Consultancy Services, which he led as chief executive from 2009 before being named chairman of Tata Sons in 2017.
His tenure has involved a deep portfolio rationalization, the relaunch of Air India after its return to Tata ownership, the build-out of a domestic semiconductor strategy through the Dholera fab project, an expansion of the group's battery and electric-vehicle manufacturing footprint and a sustained emphasis on the digital transformation of the legacy operating companies.
He is widely regarded as one of the most consequential Indian industrial leaders of the current generation.
