Marc Rowan co-founded Apollo Global Management in 1990 alongside Leon Black and Josh Harris after a formative early career at Drexel Burnham Lambert. He was named chief executive of Apollo in 2021 and has since accelerated the firm's pivot away from a private-equity-centric identity and toward private credit and retirement-services origination at very large scale, anchored by its merger with Athene.

Under Rowan, Apollo has become one of the leading providers of investment-grade private credit to corporates, infrastructure projects and asset-based lenders, with a thesis that the great wave of disintermediation of bank balance sheets has barely begun.

He is also chair of the board of advisors at the Wharton School and an active voice on the future of higher education governance.
