Cristiano Amon was born in Brazil in 1970, joined Qualcomm in 1995 and worked his way through nearly every part of the company's technology stack before becoming chief executive in 2021. Qualcomm under his leadership has accelerated a long-planned diversification away from smartphone modems and into automotive digital cockpits, PC processors through the Snapdragon X line and on-device AI silicon.
His most visible bet has been the multi-year partnership with PC OEMs to bring Snapdragon-based Windows laptops to mainstream adoption, a project that, alongside Apple Silicon, is restructuring how the personal-computing industry thinks about energy efficiency, AI inference and the long dominance of x86.
Amon has also been a vocal advocate for Latin American technology investment and for the role of 5G and emerging 6G standards in industrial automation.
