New trade corridors are being built on logistics, not communiqués
Port, rail and customs integration across the Gulf and East Africa is outpacing the diplomacy.
Corridor announcements are cheap and frequent. Corridor throughput is expensive and rare, which makes the handful of routes now showing genuine volume growth worth close attention.
The common factor is unglamorous: harmonised customs procedure and a single operator with commercial accountability for the whole chain.
Where those are absent, the infrastructure exists and the cargo does not.
